Use Stand Up-Hand Up-Pair Up at any point in the lesson to structure meaningful conversation.
Procedure
In this Kagan Cooperative Learning Strategy, the teacher poses a question to students and provides think time. On the teacher's cue students stand up, put their hands up, and quickly find a partner with whom to share or discuss the question.
Once students have the prepared question. The teachers says Stand up and Pair Up - the students mingle around th room and find someone with their hand up.
Students high 5 and say Hello - they ask their question/ or discuss the topic and then say Goodbye. Example - How many brothers have you got?
This can be a timed event or until the students have found their match.
The teacher can solicit information based on the question asked -
How many brothers has John got?
