Contents
A deck of 52 cards, picture cards and word cards.
How to play Memory
Mix up the cards.
Lay them in rows, face down.
Turn over any two cards.
If the two cards match, keep them.
If they don’t match, turn them back over.
Remember what was on each card and where it was.
Cards can be matched as images, image and text or text, but plurals are not the same as singular, this gives it a little extra twist.
Watch and remember during the other player’s turn.
The game is over when all the cards have been matched.
How to Play Snap
The dealer deals out the whole deck of cards face-down, one card at a time to each player, in a clockwise rotation. It doesn’t matter if some players get more cards than others. What does matter, however, is that you don’t look at the cards you get.
Each player, starting with the player to the left of the dealer, takes a turn flipping over the top card of his pile and putting it face-up in middle of the table.
1 Pile
The flipping process continues until one player turns over a card which is the same as the top card on the middle pile. As soon as the matching card is revealed, the first person to call out “Snap! Plus the part of the body” ( e.g Snap Leg) wins that pile” takes cards and puts them face down under his own pile.
Each Student has a Pile
Similar to turning a card onto a pile in the middle, but in this version the students make a pile infront of themselves, if their card matches another card in another students pile, they win the pile. Any student can call out “Snap! Plus the body part” to win the pile.
If you have the word card and the picture card you can say snap, if you have two word cards you can say snap and if you have two picture cards – as long as the object is the same. You cannot say just Snap, you must say Snap “ part of the body” e.g Snap Elbow.
The player who ends up with all the cards wins the game.
For some reason, Snap brings out the worst competitive instincts in people.
Establishing several informal rules can avoid Snap-induced bloodshed:
- Set rules about the proper way to turn over your card. You can’t turn over the card so that you see it first, which means that you must flip over the card in a continuous, fast motion onto your pile.
- Get an impartial witness to decide on all close calls. If you can, choose someone who isn’t playing the game. ( The teacher) If in doubt divide the pile in tw
